The FTX hacker moved an additional 25,000 ether, worth $43.15 million, after transferring 5,000 ethereum (ETH) worth $8 million in stolen assets. However, despite moving tens of millions of dollars' worth of ethereum, the FTX wallet drainer still has 155,749 ETH in its possession, which is worth little more than $268 million at the moment.
Hacker on FTX Transfers 30,000 Ether
The FTX theft perpetrator has moved a total of 30,000 ETH over the last three days, which, at the current price of ETH, is worth $51.15 million. The additional movements were 1,250 ETH, 2,500 ETH, 1,500 ETH, 4,750 ETH, and two distinct transactions of 7,500 ETH each after the original two transfers of 2,500 ETH each.
Along with a number of other cryptocurrencies and ERC20 tokens, the hacker also holds 155,749 ETH worth $268 million, 3.97 million tether (USDT), 1.68 million DAI, and 1.57 BTC. This information becomes available as former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried gets ready for his trial on October 3, which will begin with jury selection. The timing of the fund transfers has led some people to believe that the FTX wallet attack was an inside job.
Bankman-Fried conjectured that the perpetrator might be a former employee in a conversation with reporter Tiffany Fong. "I've reduced it to maybe eight people. I'm not sure which one it was, he confessed to Fong. The day FTX filed for bankruptcy was when the breach was initially discovered. Ryne Miller, a former general counsel for FTX US, mentioned that the team was looking into anomalies in FTX account balances. Martin Lee from Nansen noticed big withdrawals from FTX accounts at the same time.
