With over 703,000 transactions confirmed in a single day, Bitcoin smashes previous records while average inscriptions soar.

The number of Bitcoin Ordinal inscriptions is increasing, and it has now surpassed the startling 33 million mark. A significant milestone was also reached on September 15, 2023, when a total of 703,692 transactions were confirmed that day, and the Bitcoin blockchain set a new record by recording an astounding 440,760 inscriptions in a single day.

A record-breaking 703,000+ transactions are made using bitcoin in a single day.

The Bitcoin blockchain saw its busiest day ever on Friday, September 15, 2023, with the most transactions confirmed ever. The previous record of 682,281 transactions successfully completed on the Bitcoin blockchain on May 1, 2023, was surpassed by the astonishing achievement of 703,692 transactions certified by miners.

Interestingly, Ordinal transactions made up an amazing 62.63% of the total activity on that eventful day. The astonishing 440,760 inscriptions that were confirmed on September 15 marked a peak for inscriptions, surpassing the previous record established on July 30, 2023, according to statistics obtained from Dune Analytics.

On the blockchain, there are about 33,355,450 Ordinals that have been minted as of the current block height, which is 808,443. A remarkable statistic to go along with this record-breaking day is that since December 2022, Bitcoin miners have amassed a sizable 2,068 BTC, worth $55 million.

Inscriptions continue to gain momentum, which is not changing. The blockchain processed 381,189 inscriptions on September 16, 2023, and 419,147 inscriptions the next day. Around 402,535 inscriptions were made on September 18, and as of this Tuesday, 175,126 transactions had already been verified.

These numbers highlight the increasing dominance of inscriptions over conventional financial transactions once more, as they furiously contend for limited block space. Notably, as of block height 808,443, the Bitcoin blockchain is currently dealing with a backlog of around 481,574 unconfirmed transactions.
